1. Use prewriting activities and inquiry tools to generate and organize information, guide writing and answer questions (sketch, brainstorm, diagram, free write, graphic organizer, digital idea mapping tool, word processing tools, multimedia)
2. Generate a draft by selecting and organizing ideas relevant to topic, purpose, and genre. Composing paragraphs with grammatically correct sentences of varying lengths, complexity, and type.
3. Revise to improve writing (quality of ideas, organizations, sentence fluency, word choice, voice)
4. Provide oral, written, and/or electronic feedback to other writers; utilize others’ feedback to improve own writing.5. Edit writing for format and conventions (spelling, capitalizations, grammar, punctuations)
6. Publish a legible document (handwritten or electronic)
7. Write in a selected genre considering purpose (inform, entertain, persuade, instruct)
8. Write considering audience and what the reader needs to know; select words and format with audience in mind.

- Revise by “Fixing Up” their writing…asking -- Does it make sense? Can I add letters to my words? Can I add more details?
